SWARM is…
designed to help you make a successful transition to Emporia State University. Your SWARM Leaders, ESU students, are looking forward to talking with you about the exciting experiences you will encounter as a new student at ESU. Meet your SWARM Leaders at http://swarm.emporia.edu.
Because we want to personalize the enrollment process for you, three sessions have been created so that you can choose the one that meets your needs. These sessions will be available at SWARM programs March 2008 through July 2008.
First Generation College Students
Participate in a personalized break-out session during SWARM that addresses your needs as a student with parents who have not attended college and/or had formalized college training. You will get the opportunity to meet other first generation college students and get the mentoring support to understand the ESU academic and social campus community. This session will assist you with creating your academic plans as you establish a new educational legacy in your family.
Transfer Students
Are you transferring from a Community College or another college or university? This session offers the opportunity to meet other students like you and ask questions of current/past transfers to Emporia State University. You will receive information about on and off-campus housing, general education evaluations, meal plans, parking and any other concerns that you have. Ask questions, meet people and have fun.
New Freshmen Students
Experience what college is like from a student perspective. Participate in a personalized break-out session to help you learn how to be successful academically, get involved on campus, and start your year off right. You will get the opportunity to meet other new and current college students while you learn more about all that ESU has to offer.
Reserve your SWARM date today!
All new ESU students are required to participate in SWARM in order to enroll. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Register for the sessions of your choice in rank order. We limit the number of participants in each group to ensure you have personal attention as you get ready for your ESU experience. Your reservation will be confirmed by return mail.
Are parents or guests invited?
Your parent/guest will be attending a program designed especially for them. Their program focuses on student and parent transition issues, learning how the university works with students, and campus resources designed to assist with student success. The program concludes with the popular panel of current students fielding questions from the audience and a parent fair staffed by the presenters from the parent program.
