SWARM is…
designed to help you make a successful transition to Emporia State University. Your SWARM Leaders are looking forward to talking with you about getting involved on campus, and starting your year off right. You will meet other new and current college students while you learn more about all that ESU has to offer.
SWARM is your opportunity to have your first academic advising meeting with an ESU faculty member. At ESU we take pride in the fact that each new student has an individual appointment with an academic advisor during which you will create your fall class schedule. You will also be able to take care of other important business needed to complete your enrollment process.
Students transferring from a Community College or another college or university will be able to ask questions of current transfer students at Emporia State. In addition to meeting with an academic advisor, you will receive information about on and off-campus housing, general education evaluations, meal plans and parking.

All new ESU students are required to participate in SWARM. You will receive a confirmation of your SWARM date by return mail or email.

Checklist for SWARM
- Wear comfortable shoes
- Be prepared to get your picture taken for your Hornet ID card
- Meet new friends and classmates
- Get a jump on student life at ESU
- Learn about financial aid and student employment
- Have time to purchase or reserve your textbooks
- Know your social security number and bring a government ID (drivers license,
military ID, passport or state ID card)
