2017-2018 Emporia State Scholarship Program

To obtain the ESU Presidential Scholarship, a student must be a first-time undergraduate ESU student with at least a 21 or higher ACT (or equivalent SAT score) and have a 3.0 or above unweighted GPA. Additionally, students must be enrolled in at least 12 ESU credit hours per semester and earn a 3.0 cumulative GPA in the first year. Freshmen students are eligible for renewal of the scholarship for an additional six semesters after the first academic year. Each year the student must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semester and achieve a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

To obtain the ESU Transfer Scholarship, a student must be a first-time ESU student with 24 or more transferable credit hours and a 3.0 or higher GPA on the transferable hours. Additionally, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester and earn a 3.0 cumulative GPA in the first year. Transfer students are eligible for renewal of the scholarship for an additional two semesters after the first academic year. Each year the student must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semester and achieve a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Incoming first-time undergraduate students

Freshmen Scholarships

New freshmen starting the fall semester are eligible for half the award amount shown above in the fall semester and half in the spring semester. New freshmen starting in the spring semester are eligible for half of the award amount in the spring semester and must complete 15 total hours for the combined spring and summer semesters with a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for renewal the next academic year. Students starting in spring semester are eligible to renew the Presidential Scholarship for six additional semesters after their first semester at ESU and must complete the required 30 credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semesters with a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Valedictorian/Salutatorian Scholarships

New freshmen starting at Emporia State that are named the Class Valedictorian or are ranked 1 in their graduating class are eligible for a one-time $500 award. Students who are named Class Salutatorian or are ranked 2 in their graduating class are eligible for a one-time $250 award. Scholarships will be awarded when Undergraduate Admissions receives verification from the final, official high school transcript.

New transfer students starting ESU in the fall semester are eligible for half the award amount shown above in the fall semester and half in the spring semester. New transfer students starting ESU in the spring semester are eligible for half of the award amount in the spring semester and must complete 15 total hours for the combined spring and summer semesters with a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for renewal. Students starting in spring semester are eligible to renew the Transfer Scholarship for two additional semesters after their first semester at ESU and must complete the required 30 credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semesters with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Students transferring fewer than 24 hours are eligible for the freshman Presidential Scholarship.

Phi Theta Kappa Member Scholarships

New transfer students starting at Emporia State each fall and spring who have been active members of Phi Theta Kappa are eligible for the PTK Member Scholarship.

Students beginning in the fall semester are eligible for a one-time award of $1,000 that will be distributed as $500 in the fall semester and $500 in the spring semester.

Students designated as All-State Academic Team Members that begin in the fall semester are eligible for a one-time award of $500 that will be distributed as $250 in the fall semester and $250 in the spring semester.

Students beginning in the spring semester are eligible for a one-time award of $500 that will be distributed in the spring semester.

The PTK Member Scholarship is a one-time scholarship awarded based on full-time enrollment, which is classified as at least 12 credit hours per semester.

To receive the award, apply for admission, send your transcripts, and send your PTK membership information to ESU’s Admissions Office.

Presidential and Transfer Scholarship Renewal

To be eligible for renewal of the Presidential or Transfer Scholarship, students must complete a total of 30 credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semesters while maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Renewal amounts are the same as the original award amounts.
