Deena Wilson, Admissions Counselor
Hi, my name is Deena Wilson. I graduated from ESU with a Bachelor of Science in Art in 2002 and a Master of Science in Art Therapy in 2006. I played Basketball at ESU from 1998 - 2002, Go Lady Hornets!! My husband, Casey, and I live 6 miles from Emporia and we like to spend our free time enjoying the outdoors.
My Fun Facts
My official title at ESU is: Admissions Counselor
I chose Emporia State because: I had been here to visit my sister, who's two years older, so many times that it already felt like a secondary home.
If you’re on campus, you’ve just got to see: the Atrium in Visser Hall, it is so relaxing.
The best reason to get involved on campus is: You meet so many people so easily that way.
My favorite class at ESU was: American History. The professor wore Hawaiian shirts, shorts, and sandals to class. I just knew someone like that would have something interesting to say!
If you saw me on TV, you’d probably be watching: Fear Factor, I may not like eating worms but I would love the stunts
I like to take pictures of myself...since I am always the one with the camera.
2007 Lady Hornet Alumni Basketball Game
My husband, Casey, and I at my friend's wedding.
My husband, Casey, and I enjoying a campfire outside.
Christmas 2006 - my sister, Tara, and I look like real reindeer don't we!
I love to wake-up my nephew, Logan, in the morning. He doesn't love it.
In my spare time, I like to: do anything crafty...but during the summer I work outside in my garden.
As I walked across the stage at graduation, I thought to myself: I wonder if anyone picked up my Mt. Dew that I left in my seat, it's really hot and I could use a drink of it when I get back to my chair. Just kidding all I could think was -- YEAHHHHHHHH!
If I could be anyone for a day, I’d be: a little kid in the summer. That was my favorite time.
The quote I love the most is: Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable or happy. The amount of work is the same.
If you had never read this, you wouldn't know that: last year I cut off 12 inches of my hair... and I donated it to Locks of Love .
The BEST part about my job is: Working with students who want to attend ESU!
