Amy Jo Troyer, Admissions Counselor

Hi! My name is Amy Jo Troyer and I am from Leavenworth, Kansas. I graduated from Emporia State with a B.F.A. in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Sociology in 2004. Soon after graduation I began working for ESU Admissions, and have been here ever since!

My official title at ESU is: Admissions Counselor.

Yes, I did things on campus! I was involved in: Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Rho Lambda, Intramural Sports and volunteer organizations.

I chose Emporia State because: when I set foot on campus, I just knew it was for me!

If you’re on campus, you’ve just got to see: Wooster Bridge.

My top three CD’s of all time are (in order):
Déjà vu – Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Yourself or Someone Like You – Matchbox 20
Brushfire Fairytales – Jack Johnson

The best reason to get involved on campus is: the leadership experience you gain.

By far… the coolest person I met at ESU was: my husband. Cheesy, yes, but true!

My favorite class at ESU was: Intro to Criminal Investigation. We got to see photos of a real crime scene and go over the case as if it were our own. It was awesome!

In my spare time, I like to: scrapbook, make cards, go to Chiefs games, work on my house, go camping, and stay active as a Vounteer Advocate for the American Stroke Association.

As I walked across the stage at graduation, I thought to myself: “Does this mean I’m off my parents’ payroll for good?”

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be: Mac and Cheese, yum!

The quote I love the most is: “You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything”

At work, the phrase I hear most is: “Did you water your plants yet?” (I’m surprised they are still alive!)

The BEST part about my job is: visiting with students on their campus visit and then seeing them at enrollment!
