ABOUT US
Mission Statement
The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention (ADAP) Program seeks to support students,
faculty, and staff in creating and maintaining a campus environment that encourages
and supports healthy lifestyles where the misuse or abuse of alcohol, and the
use of tobacco and other drugs has minimal impact on the academic progress
of individual students and the learning environment of the campus community.
Services
The ADAP Program provides the following services to the ESU community: presentations, instruction, interventions, referrals, tobacco cessation, and student assistants.
Our resource center, located in 211 South Morse Hall, is available to students, faculty, and staff. The resource center offers both print and non-print materials for check-out.
The Prime For Life: On Campus Talking About Alcohol Class
This class offers eight hours of instruction and meets
the requirements for Alcohol Information School required
by the courts.
The Kansas Health Foundation Grant
In 1999, The ADAP Program received funding from the Kansas Health Foundation for a public health program. The program began a campus-wide media campaign to educate students about the actual drinking behaviors of their peers versus perceived drinking behaviors. The campaign is based on the process of social norms marketing which evolved out of the Social Norms Theory.
