McNair Scholars Program Prospective Mentors

Information for prospective mentors

The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRIO program funded by the United States Department of Education intended to prepare undergraduate students who are first-generation and low-income or individuals who are underrepresented in graduate education for doctoral studies through research and scholarly activities.

Faculty Mentors are asked to contribute their time, knowledge and encouragement to McNair Scholars and assist them in learning more about the research process. Overall, Faculty Mentors assist scholars in developing professional work habits, research skills and relationships conducive to future doctoral pursuits.

If you are interested in being a mentor, please connect with students who may be eligible for the program and feel free to share your name with our staff at triomcnair@emporia.edu so interested students from your discipline can be made aware of your research interests and willingness to mentor.
