Stress

  • Natural response to change
  • Caused by an external trigger
  • Temporary
  • Less control = more intense stress reaction

Anxiety

  • Unremitting, uncontrollable (even outside of trigger)
  • Can be a result of prolonged, untreated stress
  • Sense of doom or danger
  • Unsubstantiated worries

Symptoms in Common

  • Fear
  • Physical complaints
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • GI symptoms
  • Panic attacks

Warning signs

  • Procrastination
  • Absences
  • Change in appearance
  • Apathetic
