Driver Education Certificate
Why a Driver Education Certificate
at ESU?
The Division of School Leadership/Middle and Secondary
Teachers Education benefits from a $55,000 grant which
was used to purchase new driver education curriculum,
simulators, and related equipment.
Recent legislative action requires additional emphasis
on driver education and has increased the amount of
supervised driving students must receive prior to obtaining
a license.
Our program offers unique hands-on experience with
the use of driver education simulators and behind-the-wheel
driving.

"I feel better prepared to teach driver
education than any other subject area in
which I have been certified. It is a very
realistic and valuable program."
-- Jim Hathaway
KDSEA Secretary
In April 199, a grant from the Kansas Department
of Transportation's Bureau of Traffic and
Safety (BTS) provided equipment allowing
students to train as they learn to teach
driver education. ESU is the only university
in the state that provides a driver education
certification program for teachers.
